Artwork Requirements
Artwork Requirements
- File Formats: The artwork must be in PNG, SVG, or PSD format with a transparent background and a minimum of 300 DPI in resolution to prevent unwanted elements from appearing in the print.
- Artwork Quality / Dimensions: The submitted design will be reproduced as is, exactly as uploaded with no alterations. Artwork must be submitted in the precise required print size. We do not resize designs.
- Image quality impacts transfer quality, thus opt for high-resolution, non-pixelated designs.
- Graphic Design / Setup Fees: There is an additional cost for editing or modifying designs. Any modifications or edits to designs needed will incur an extra charge. Please add Graphic Design / Setup item to your cart and choose the variant that best fits your service needs.
- Minimum Line Width: The minimum recommended line width is 0.019" (1.4 pt). for free-floating lines (lines that are by themselves and not found in a bigger image), Anything smaller may not adhere to your garment or may not be printed as crisp and clear.
- Soft Edges / Semi-Transparency: Soft edges, or fadeouts (like a glow or drop shadows on your image) result in a white halo around the DTF print. Edges must be solid. One way to achieve a fadeout look without getting the halo effect on your prints is by applying the HALFTONE TECHNIQUE when designing.
- No Refunds: No refunds will be given for pixelated or low-quality files. Designs will be printed as submitted without any edits. Please follow these requirements for the best printing results.
Pressing Instructions
Pressing Instructions
Temperature
Cotton Fabrics: 290 - 300 degrees Fahrenheit at 12 seconds.
Polyester Fabrics: 250 - 260 degrees Fahrenheit at 12 seconds.
Nylon / other fabric blends: Every fabric and equipment varies. Experiment with the Temperature, Pressure, and Duration with a sample piece until you find the ideal values. Start with a lower temperature and gradually go higher.
Prepress the Shirt
Prepress the shirt for at least 10 seconds under medium high pressure. to remove any moisture and creases. This guarantees the fabric is smooth and dry, providing an improved surface for the transfer and prevents the design to peel off or have unwanted defects.
Position Your Design
Position the DTF transfer film on the chosen area of the shirt. Verify proper alignment to ensure precise design application.
Press and Peel
Press the transfer at specified time and temperature settings with medium to high pressure for 12 seconds. It is best practice to try out one piece initially. Use a Teflon sheet or parchment / butcher paper to shield your garment from coming into direct contact with the iron.
Since The Print Factory Designs uses Hot Peel transfer film, peel right away! If parts of the design are not sticking, lay it back down and press again with added pressure.
Final Press
Important: A final press is crucial for creating a top-notch product. Once the design is transferred to the garment and the film is removed, place Teflon sheet or parchment paper over the design and press again for 8-12 seconds. This process significantly boosts product quality by enhancing durability, softness, and reducing shine.
Wait 24 Hours Before Washing
Avoid washing the shirt until 24 hours after pressing. This time frame allows the transfer to fully set, preserving the design during washing.
Heat and Pressure Requirements
DTF transfers demand heavy pressure for ideal results. A proper heat press is recommended for this task. Using a home iron or a Cricut Easy press might not deliver sufficient pressure, potentially affecting the quality of the transfer.
Washing / Ironing Instructions
Washing / Ironing Instructions
How to Machine Wash:
Turn your pressed shirt inside-out before washing. Separate similar colors, weight, and textures. Make sure to not overfill the washer. Use mild detergent with cold water on a gentle cycle. Warm water, harsh detergents, and aggressive wash cycles can damage both the garment and the transfer itself.
How to Dry:
We recommend hang-drying / air drying on a clothe hanger. Turn your shirt inside-out before Tumble Drying at low to medium heat.
Iron:
Do not iron the direct to film transfer design directly. Flip the garment inside out and avoid any steaming features.
